LESSON PLAN
Class : 5 Teguh
Time : 8.15 am - 9.15 am
Subject : Science
Theme : Investigating Materials
Learning area: 1. States of Matter
Learning Objectives: 1.1 Understanding that matter exist in the form of solid, liquid or gas
Learning Outcomes: At the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to :
1.1.1 Classify objects and materials into states of matter
1.1.2 State the properties of solid
1.1.3 State the properties of liquid
Scientific Skills : Observing, classifying, making inference, communicating
Thinking Skills : Attributing, comparing and contrasting
Scientific Attitudes/ noble values / patriotism / Historical Values:
- Being honest and accurate in recording and validating data
- Pupils honestly record their observation as they study the properties as solid , liquid and gas.
Teaching and learning Resources - various examples of solids, liquids ,chart
Teaching and learning Aids – LCD, laptop, screen, materials picture, worksheet
Prior Knowledge : pupils have experienced dissolving substances into water in year 2. They have
handled solid and liquid in that topic.
Phase/ Duration | Content | Teaching and Learning activities | Remarks |
Orientation 5 minutes | view power point slideshow | 1. Teacher view a few pictureon the screen. 2. Pupils are asked to state about: Question -List the object that you can see in the picture. Answers: cake, glass, balloon, etc. - pupils state whether the objects can be touch, hold or melt. -State the characteristics of these objects. Answers: fixed shape, hard, have mass etc. 3. Teacher relates them to the content of this unit. | TLA : Laptop LCD Picture file White screen SPS : Observing Predicting Communication TS : Attributing |
Eliciting ideas 10 minutes | Based on picture Ppt slideshow (states of matter) | 1. Teacher begin the lesson by relating pupils prior knowledge to the topic. Question : -In year 2, pupils did an activity on mixing salt with water. What happens to the salt? What is the difference between salt and water? 2. Teacher conclude by saying salt is example of solid and water is an example of liquid. 3. Student have been shown an object picture. The student are asked by teacher to identify the solid and liquid object. 4. Teacher and pupils do discussion about the picture that had been shown. | TLA : Picture SPS : Observing Predicting communicating TS &TS : Generating idea attributing comparing |
Application of ideas 40 minutes | Group discussion Presentation Interactive activity | 1. Students are divided into 6 groups. 2. Each group is given a set of an object picture. 3. Each group need to classify matter into three groups according to the physical properties and write in the mahjong paper. Teacher guide the pupils. 4. Teacher later invite pupils to their presentation 5. Teacher guide the pupils to do brainstorming about question in interactive worksheet | TLA : Object picture Mahjong paper Marker pen Interactive worksheet SPS : Observing Predicting Communicating TS : Generating idea SA & NV : -Self confident to share opinion -honestly record their observation |
Reflection 10 minutes | Lesson discussion Ppt slideshow | 1. Pupils ask by the teacher to tell the class the properties of solid and liquid. 2. Teacher explain again the properties of solid and liquid a) Properties of solid - has mass - has fixed volume, - has fixed shape. b) Properties of liquid - has mass, - has fixed volume, - has no permanent shape 3. Student also need to complete the worksheet to enhance their understanding | TLA : Worksheet SPS : Communicating TS & TS : Visualizing Attributing Generating idea |
Remedial and Enrichment | Interactive game | Remedial = interactive game (Cuba Teka) Enrichment = interactive game (main ni ) Pupils are ask to try various games provided | |
